Job summary
Cardiff & Vale Community dietetic service is looking for an experienced Dietitian to work in our community paediatric team. The post holder will join a team of 6 dietitians working across Cardiff and Vale. The service provides clinical dietetic support to children and their families at home through community clinics, home visits and working with schools. This includes children on Home Enteral Tube feeding and Clinics run jointly with Speech and language Therapy. Services are delivered through a mix of virtual and face to face consultations and group education. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a practical, forward thinking approach to service development and evaluation and the ability to work as part of a team
You will be based in Riverside Health Centre with close links to St David's Children's Centre where Dietitians are a core part of the paediatric MDT. Paediatric dietetic experience is essential and experience of working with babies and children with complex health needs would be desirable, training and clinical supervision will be provided.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be the lead clinician for the management of our community dietetic service for pre-school children including development, implementation and evaluation of the service linking with key stakeholders. Lead on the design, delivery and evaluation of nutrition education to other health care professionals.The service is a major provider of pre-registration dietetic education and the successful candidate will be involved in the delivery of training/education to students. The candidate will also provide supervision to the community dietetic team.
The ability to travel between sites in a timely manner to meet the requirements of the role is essential, some evening and weekend work may be required.
