Strategic responsibilities

  • To promote, defend and represent the interests of BSNA members that operate within the UK infant and dietetic industry via effective representation of BSNA Ltd.
  • To ensure that BSNA’s views are understood by healthcare professionals, government bodies, opinion leaders, consumer groups, SNE (Specialised Nutrition Europe) and other European bodies along with ISDI (International Special Dietary Foods Industries), so that members interests are understood and represented in each of these areas.
  • To co-ordinate the work of the Infant Nutrition Group and Parenteral Nutrition Group by initiating and managing the work of these groups.
  • To work with the Director General, Scientific and Regulatory Executive, Public Affairs Manager and Chairs of the Groups to provide proactive input to help the association meet its objectives.

Operational responsibilities

  • Stay informed & horizon scan the regulatory and key scientific developments which are applicable to BSNA and its members and act on these, as appropriate
  • Provide regulatory expertise on relevant matters
  • Interpret reports and provide feedback and advice to members accordingly
  • Respond to relevant policy reports, health consultations etc. as appropriate
  • Manage the work of the Infant Nutrition Working Group and Parenteral Nutrition Group
  • Support the Director General in the running of the Infant Nutrition Executive meetings including attending as necessary
  • Support members by providing accurate and expert advice, when required
  • Collaborate effectively with the Director General, the Medical Nutrition Manager, the Scientific & Regulatory Executive and the Public Affairs Manager
  • Participate in relevant SNE Groups, including (Food) Safety, and provide input from a UK perspective
  • Further develop relationships i.e. Food Standards Agency (FSA), Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and other key stakeholders
  • Represent the BSNA at external meetings such as FDF, regulatory meetings and related stakeholder discussions
  • Work alongside the other members of the BSNA Secretariat to publish articles and blogs internally & externally to increase awareness of BSNA
  • Communicate all relevant information to member companies and external organisations


Requirements

Experience required:

  • University Science/ Nutrition degree and regulatory experience within Consumer Health or FMCG
  • Understanding of the current UK and European regulations
  • Ability to manage workload and identify priority tasks to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong influencing / communication expertise
  • Ability to build good relationships and challenge constructively and confidently
  • Ability to consolidate large volumes of complex information, interpret & construct straightforward plans.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

To report to the Director General, and to work with the Medical Nutrition Manager, Scientific and Regulatory Executive, Public Affairs Manager, Administrative Secretary, Associations and Industry Representatives as well as Government, FSA and other bodies to achieve objectives.

The role is typically office based in Holborn, London but may initially be on a working from home basis.
